Norah Jones is incredible to watch on stage precisely because she blends and crosses so many different musical genres and instruments, showing off her very real, raw talent as a singer, songwriter and musician. The Grammy winning artist is relatively understated, she does not perform a lot so when she does tour her fans are always wildly excited.
Her set was minimal, in order for her to showcase her incredible talent. There were no flashy lights or gimmicks. All we needed was Jones, her guitar, piano and her incredible vocals. Jones encompasses Jazz, Country and Pop in her music. She is queen of the acoustics and her voice is both powerful and mellow. She has a soft tone to her vocals that is breath-taking to hear in real life, but can still hit those hard notes.
Jones sung a number of classics, and a range of songs that spanned her whole career. Like all of the best artists, Norah Jones cannot be put in a box. There is no putting her into a box because she is not simply a singer, nor a songwriter, a musician, or performer: she is all of those.
And her music is not just pop, country, rock, folk, blues, jazz or any other genre you can put a song into. She manages to combine all of her influences into her music while still giving the music a character that is uniquely her own. She is capable of incredible delicacy and sophistication. Personally, I love her voice!
She's amazing! Great music whether you're up, down, relaxing, or pumping yourself up, Norah will take care of you. Beautiful performer, played some beautiful songs.
Was obviously having a bad day or overtired because in a little over an hour she said about 3 sentences other than introducing the band after about the 4th or 5th songs.
It would have been nice to have have her introduce her new songs with the title and not just that it's on the internet! Or 'this is our last song' and get up say 'goodbye ' and walk off. At least there was an encore. It was like paying to watch a very expensive, professional open mic or watching them practice I've been to a fair few concerts so it was a bit odd.
The audience, in the other hand, left a lot to be desired. Extremely rude, talking, up and down in their seats, coming in late to the show, just terrible. I thought my wife was going to take out the chatty-kathys behind us. The show was in NJ and I've never seen a more disrespectful group of people.
Cash and dash one-star performer She sounded really good but sadly I will never see another show. I know musicians are contracted to perform a minimum time, generally 90 min. That being said a musician who does the minimum at a theater like Red Rocks isn't a musician they are money hungry and don't care about the fans. I do not recommend! The show was amazing and Norah is an incredibly talented and versatile musician. The fun part, was seeing the Dream Park fireworks behind the stage during the concert and the fireworks after the concert.
